Quality Control Technician / Lab Assistant

South West Wood Products is one of the largest most successful processors of waste wood in the South West and South Wales.

Job Summary

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Control Technician / Lab Assistant to join our team at South West Wood Products. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products, across all sites, meet the highest quality standards. This position involves conducting various laboratory tests, adhering to site and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all wood samples are processed in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate records of test results and observations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Creating and communicating regular data analysis in the form of a spreadsheets for data entry and analysis, ensuring data integrity and traceability at all times.
• Drying the wood chip samples using specialised laboratory equipment.
• Responses to rejected load information must be dealt with promptly and communicated effectively.
• Collaborate with the production team to identify and resolve quality issues promptly.
• Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained according to standard operating procedures.
• Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and protocols.
• Stay updated on all related policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a quality control or laboratory setting in a similar environment is highly desirable
• Must be computer literate
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated
• Excellent customer care with a professional manner must be maintained at all times
• Must have a full clean drivers license as this role will cover all of South West Wood Products processing sites.

Hours of Work

Monday to Thursday 6am to 6pm, Friday 6am to 5pm, Saturday 6am to 3pm (every other Saturday is a requirement of this job). 30 minute unpaid lunch break each day.
